Role-playing Adventures for Summer Camps

Providing immersive and interactive adventures for your camp or facility through online staff training

Programs for Summer Camp Role-Playing Adventures

We design creative programming for your summer camp location (or for online too) with the power of story-telling. We can create custom programs according to your camp theme, desired outcomes, and special needs.  All program design includes instructor training documents and videos.

Or your camp can use our free simple role-playing game system to create your own adventures for participants of all ages. We also have the more complete Universal Game System live-action roleplaying (or LARP) system integrates with a STEM Guild Hall add-on to make the adventures educational and also our Nonviolent Conflict System add-on if you prefer to have your campers learning negotiation skills instead of pretend combat.

Emotional engagement is key to comprehension and retention of information as well as for establishing positive lifelong memories. Our goal is to help you bring all the pieces together.

What’s The Process?

It’s simple! Tell us what your goals are for your adventurers. What type of experiences are you hoping to provide to your group? Where is the adventure going to take place? When we talk about your vision, we design and develop the story. We create the program and can even source all the technology, props, costumes, and supplies for your adventure. We can produce professional in-game videos (these videos help immerse your players and tell the story to the participants), staff training videos, step-by-step documentation, forms, and even marketing materials for you to promote your adventure.

Do You Have Already Made Adventures?

Yes. We have programs that you are able to license and run at your camps. We have developed a Universal Game System (UGS) that includes everything you need to create and run an online or offline story-based program. WE provide the training and YOU provide the story. If you don’t have the time or energy to create your own story, we have Complete STEM Adventures which provide you with all the training for exciting stories with interactions and material lists provided.

If you would like an example of our programs, you can sign up for either our highly immersive (and more complex) Elixir of Life adventure, or our more simple Online Zombie Escape Room. Just log into our training center and the learning platform will teach your staff how to run the adventure, step by step, along with all of the graphics, story elements, and training videos.

How Does It Work? Example?

When ST Unitas, one of the largest Tech Ed companies in Asia and parent company of The Princeton Review, wanted to design an live STEM summer camp that reflected the quality of their online trans-media presence, they approached Professor Joseph Blatt at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). Joe brought in Guardian Adventures and we partnered with Professor Uche Amaechi, also of HGSE, to create the Mission to Mars STEM Summer Camp for ST Unitas.

This first of its kind collaboration integrates traditional STEM-based learning principles with informal education — experiential and student-driven processes that foster learning through hands-on activity.

In 2018, Guardian Adventures and professors from HGSE created the full STEM curriculum as well as the story behind Mission to Mars. The camp was held in Seoul, South Korea and was a huge success. From there, ST Unitas contracted Guardian Adventures to create a Winter Camp for kids from Asia, to be held here in the USA.

The students spent one week studying at Harvard University, then applied their lessons during a highly interactive Mars adventure at Guardian Adventures in Burlington, MA. Guardian Adventures turned their entire facility into a space expedition complete with the interior of a space ship, terrestrial shelters, space suits, remote-controlled robots, and more.

During their time at Guardian Adventures, visitors worked as a team to develop the necessary skills to get to, and survive on, the red planet. This included exciting activities such as:

  • Determining “escape velocity” — the necessary speed/energy to escape the earth’s gravitational pull
  • Extreme weather survival skills
  • Electrolysis and oxygen production
  • Constructing and understanding two-stage rockets
  • Building structures for harsh environments (geodesic domes)

Each year since, we have designed new curriculum and a higher level experience for returning campers – both in South Korea and for their students who travel each winter to our facility in the USA. These camps are now part of the regular offering for ST Unitas and their clients.

Guardian Adventures continues to be contracted by large and small corporations alike who want to add immersive and engaging experiences to their environment or their business model.

What Families Are Saying

“Simply put, Guard Up changed my life. From the first moment I stepped into the ‘tavern,’ to my last glimpse of the camp before I left, I was totally engulfed in the story, characters, and experience.” – Saul Rosenthal

“I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the entire Guard Up staff for making online adventures possible. My son looks forward to both of his classes so much and for those couple of hours he is truly someone and somewhere else…SOMEPLACE MAGICAL where he’s an alchemist and every problem can be solved if you figure out the riddle.” – Elizabeth, mother of an online camper
