Notable Achievements:
Avishta co-founded the African Languages Conference, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting African languages and cultures through annual events predominantly delivered in African languages. As a leader of the Global Coalition for Language Rights, she spearheaded Global Language Advocacy Days, the Coalition’s flagship annual event, and co-authored its Statement on Understanding and Defending Language Rights, now translated into over 80 languages to support underrepresented communities worldwide.
