We had a special guest visit our Little Knights classes this week. Last Sunday, we received Flat Stanley in the mail from 7 year old Paige Thompson as part of a school project at Morgan Elementary School in Shelby Township, MI. This project, like many others across the country, is based on the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. This funny book tells the story of a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished “flat as a pancake” when a bulletin board falls on him. Though flat, Stanley is otherwise fine and discovers that he can slide under doors and fold up to fit in an envelope. Now, elementary schools use the story of Flat Stanley to connect kids who live miles apart.

After a 700 mile trip in the mail, Stanley spent several days at Guard Up! Family Swordsmanship, and met many of our students and staff. He learned how to fight with a dagger and pick the perfect costume, and made many new friends. Our Little Knights used our new white board walls to draw a picture for Stanley. The staff also created a friend for Stanley to travel with him back to Michigan. Flat Stanley and Flat Stephanie will be missed, but we are excited for them to experience the next part of their adventure.

If your young Hero (ages 4-6) is interested in making new friends and building a community of like-minded adventurers, bring them in to our Little Knights class. Start them on a life-long journey of learning and acceptance, within a safe and educational space. Call us at (781) 270-4800 for more information or fill out the form below. We look forward to seeing you around Guardian Castle!
