As our Home School and Unschool population continues to grow, we have responded to numerous requests and suggestions by our members to start a new series of courses that are, what we like to call, supplemental education. These new Academy Classes are different from our other programs in that they do NOT involve swords… but instead focus on providing students with other educational options outside of their regular public, private or home schooling (or “unschooling” as the case may be) schools.
The classes listed below are just the beginning. We hope to add more courses as the department grows and interest spreads. Please note that, when possible, we try to offer these classes during normal school hours as well as evening hours for those students who are in public or private schools.
Our Academy Classes will still adhere to our Positive Coaching philosophy with emphasis on education instead of competition. As such, these classes promote peer reviews and instructor mentorship instead of the classical approach of an authoritarian grading system. As well, students are encouraged to select their own direction and move at their own pace with the assistance of instructor consultation, if desired.
The objective of the Academy Classes is to inspire creativity, self directed education, expression of perspectives and achievment of personal objectives.
